Scientific research can reduce superstition by encouraging people to think and view things in terms of cause and effect.” – Albert Einstein

Life is a perpetual instruction in cause and effect.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

THE LAW OF CAUSE AND EFFECT states that for every cause (a type of stimulus), there is a definite effect (a result). We reap what we sow. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. This is also known as the law of Karma. In scientific terms, this could be viewed as the conservation of energy.

This chapter is about understanding what happens in between the cause and resulting effect from a psychological perspective, so that we may be able to influence the effect that is in our best interests. This requires mindfulness all along the chain of the cycles so that we make conscious decisions. This cycle is analogous to running a computer program running.
