Having a vision is a powerful tool for accomplishing goals. So how can a vision statement help one achieve their mission in any area of their life?

In the Arootah Success Formula, the vision statement communicates to the world what one’s mission will look like in the context of the three domains of personal, professional, and business once it has been “perfectly” accomplished. It relies on creativity, inspiration, and passion to complete the overall mission in life.

A vision statement may be one of the most underutilized tools for accomplishing goals that a person can have at their disposal, but it can make all the difference in achieving their mission.

How Vision Helps the Mission

“The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision.” – Helen Keller

So why is it important to have a vision? Vision is what happens when you combine inspiration, creativity, motivation, and drive to create a picture of what the future will look like. It’s like painting a picture of what one will produce in accomplishing their goal. Having a vision is a helpful tool for almost any goal, but Olympic athletes in particular know that vision can be a highly empowering tool for athletic performance.

They simply walked through what it was they were about to perform in their mind’s eye before they acted it out. They imagined what it would look like when they completed an exercise successfully. By using imagery for performance, they trained the neural pathways in their brain for success. Additionally, 100% of the coaches and 97% of the athletes agreed that visualization enhanced their performance.

By visualizing what it looks like to succeed and strengthening the neural pathways in the mind, one can lessen the gap between where they are and where they want to be. Since the brain is already familiar with the vision, it is more likely to achieve success faster.

Having a vision can be a huge catalyst in helping someone achieve their overall mission in their career, business, or personal life. Writing out a vision statement, and crafting it in the mind’s eye, helps you get that much closer to achieving a goal or accomplishing a mission.

What Does a Vision Statement Look Like?

When putting together a vision statement, individuals should be largely informed by their mission, values, and principles. What do you dream of accomplishing? What changes should you make, and how will these changes benefit all involved?

Think of this vision as the dream state.  The key to achieving the dream state is a vision that is vivid, clear, concise, and, most importantly…inspiring.

Here are some points to consider when creating a vision statement:

  • Life mission (or missions)
  • Values
  • Principles
  • Passions
  • Creativity

Let’s say a person’s mission statement for the area of business is this:

“To provide the fashion industry with sustainable, stylish clothing that has a positive impact on the environment.”

To create a vision statement, they would consider values such as sustainability, coupled with their passion for fashion and helping the environment. It would look something like this:

“Our vision as a company is to help create a world where the fashion industry no longer has a negative impact on the environment. With sustainable, recycled clothing, we’re able to coexist harmoniously with the earth while still preserving our sense of style and creative expression.”

While a mission statement informs a person’s actions, a vision statement describes what it will look like after the person accomplishes their mission.

Life with More Vision

We purposefully include crafting a vision statement in the Arootah Success Formula because we know the impact it can have on the mission. By using a vision for the future as a source of inspiration, one can have success in achieving any goal.

More vision can help individuals see what life would be like if they were to simply dream it up. If they implement the right tools to achieve it, they can ultimately turn the dream state into reality. Our passion for helping people find the right tools to achieve their goals was the purpose behind crafting The Success Formula. We want to empower people to reach the goals they’ve always dreamed of.

Take a moment to think about what each area of life would look like with more vision:

  • Personal
  • Professional
  • Business

Many people find it difficult to pursue their dreams. People are often not trained in this important endeavor and it requires some guidance and effort to do so. Our mission at Arootah is to inspire and strategize with our clients so that they may accomplish their biggest goals.  A key strategy that we use is vision. With a clearer vision of their goals, we can work with clients to make their dreams come true in the most efficient and effective manner. Our coaches at Arootah can help come up with a game plan for clients to meet and exceed their goals. Even if it doesn’t seem possible now, a little vision and creativity can go a long way.

The Bottom Line

A vision statement may be one of the most underutilized tools for accomplishing goals that a person can have at their disposal, but it can make all the difference in achieving their mission.

Sometimes it seems like achieving success can be boiled down to steps, actions, and processes. However, part of what makes the Arootah Success Formula work is that we believe in helping clients implement their creativity, vision, inspiration, and passion into the vision they have for their lives. What may seem like the most intangible tools, often are what help these clients achieve their most ambitious goals. In the end, we want to inspire everyone to use these tools as superpowers.
